FAQ
What legal teams ask us.
Can Trustable tell whether a PDF was edited?
It can show the signs: text that was overlaid or re-rendered, fonts and spacing that don’t match the rest of the page, rebuilt templates, totals that don’t reconcile, and metadata such as a last-saved date after the document date or a creator that doesn’t fit the claimed source. Each finding is marked on the page with its strength.
Does missing metadata prove tampering?
No. Many apps strip metadata when a file is shared, scanned or re-saved, so its absence is one signal among several, never proof on its own. Trustable reports what the metadata says, what it doesn’t, and whether it conflicts with the rest of the file.
Can the report be used in a dispute?
The report records what was found, where it sits on the file, how the file appears to have been changed and how strong each signal is. Whether that is admissible, and what it establishes, is a matter for your counsel and the forum. Trustable does not give legal opinions, and no AI is 100% accurate.
How do files reach Trustable?
Through the API or the Trustable web app, after data handling is agreed in writing. Send the document, photo or video and get back the findings, where they are and how strong each one is. Files can be processed in our cloud, your VPC or on-prem; see security.
Does a flag mean the document is forged?
No. A flag means the document needs a closer look. Documents are edited for innocent reasons too, such as redaction, cropping or removing a password. Trustable shows what it found and how strong the signal is; your team decides whether to request the original or verify at the source.
